Re: General February Weather
Apparently a 'twister' causing very minor damage was spotted in Papamoa, BoP around 2pm today...

Possibly a 'dust-devil'?

Dust devil for sure, no way did the conditions here today support the formation of a tornado.

Maybe your taking my message out of context John? I have the utmost respect for Steven and was saying about how he often mentioned thunderstorms could occur around Auckland more in winter and how correct he is. All is good John
Up in Nelson for a wedding, drove through Murchison around 10pm and it was 19 degrees outside and felt very nice.
EDIT: I take you to heart too much John, lol.

Yes. In a week that is usually the hottest time of the year, the temperatures are rather cool, more so cooler this WE.

Grey and gloomy today with a fresh ENE and light drizzle, sounds just like an English summer....

Cloud and sunny spells for Auckland today, max 22C. The dewpoint of 12C is low for Auckland for February, I prefer the humid weather. Looks like plenty of high cloud to cross our region tomorrow, hopefully some fine weather by Tuesday..

Re: General February Weather
Another dull day here, the low cloud never looked like breaking with an easterly. Light drizzle patches at times. Looking to the south now I can see some blue sky but its only a patch with higher cloud from a break in low cloud. However, cloud will no doubt thicken back up tonight bringing perhaps more persistent drizzle. Looks to be a very dull few days ahead also.

Record low sunshine for Ch'ch in Feb is 112 hours in 1966 (only 70 at Haast same month, and at TImaru in Feb 1974).CHCH Weather Chaser wrote:Another dull day here, the low cloud never looked like breaking with an easterly. The weather will be better over that side of the hill for the rest of the weekmelja wrote:Great weekend in the mackenzie basin sunny, warm, and little wind- high 20s every day.
A friend who lives in Sydney tells me It has been a cool damp summer there so far with a lot of overcast days
with showers and only one day over 30 degrees. They haven't been to the beach yet.

Reasonabily mild and humid though with highs around 17-19 and dewpoints around 14-15.

Re: General February Weather
Been a nice few days and much enjoyed with plenty of sunshine, although yesterday was alot better.
Today has that slight muggy feel to it with lower and mid level cloud maybe even some light showers forming to the west looking inland, dew points must be slightly up with 20C currently.
Much preferr this weather to the overcast clag definatly need all the sun we can get as its summer after all.
