25 degrees here with thick high cloud. Wind is all over the place this morning, Started out with a Strong NW then it went to moderate easterly then back to a lighter NW and just now its gone back to a ESE.

Got to just over 32 degrees locally and 30.1 currently at airport. Cooling down now with a southerly breeze and extensive high cloud.

Sure has been a warm day what a fantastic start to summer eh , temperature has since dropped to 25C from 30C earlier within 10 minutes as we now have a howling easterly no southerly arrived here at all.

I was at the West MeltonSchool Christmas Wonderland fair today and the southerly roared through there about 1:30pm. Everything went flying and people scrambled to hold onto tents, etc.
Warm today with the thermometer climbing to 29.4C. A temperature drop of about 6C occured with the southerly, thank goodness. Very flat looking sky with no sign of an instability.

We didnt get the southerly either Jason. Changed to a NE breeze which has cooled it down to 27 degrees. I see its quite a bit cooler at 23 degrees at the airport but a northerly there.

Been SW or West to the South here, since the wind change but no easterly influence of note. Now more NW.
Interesting cloud forms now to the west towards TC.
Moving out towards the east. May possibly hear some thunder

A bit of a chaotic sky at the moment with lots of different cloud form. Wind now back to the NE. Quite cool now after today's tempertures. May lead up to an interesting sunset
EDIT: Just saw a stubblyfunnel cloud to the SE of here but as soon as it fornmed it disappeared, bugger

Yes we badly needed it. Was getting scarily dry.
Some how ive managed 23mm since it started. It's been light drizzle but got heavy around midnight.

Looks like the weather will clear in Auckland today but the front comes back onto us tomorrow as a warm front. A Tasman Sea front due Wednesday. Nothing too active looking but the farmers will welcome any rain.

That should be March 2011 ... my own station recorded only one day since then where it just managed to scrape past 30 (1st Feb).

Yep, although Chch Aero never got above 30C last summer, during the previous summer it exceeded 30C on 11 days (incl. 35.9C in Feb, 2011).

On another note, early yesterday morn, WNW gusts reached 206 km/h at Cape Turnagain and
172 km/h at Castlepoint.
