Its already been a rather long minimum period - certainly longer than the last 4 or 5 cycles at least. And its not over yet, we probably have another 12 months of very low sunspot activity before it ramps up significantly. Which is why the major Nino might come in 21/22, not 20/21.Awhituobs wrote: Sat 02/11/2019 11:30 that's a good sign of its not going to be a drawn out solar minimum (this time)?

29.5°C in my garden at the moment, and I've brought the electric fan out for the first time since last summer.
Sky rather hazy, some thin light cloud aloft.

Don't want to have that around here. Inconsiderate people letting off fireworks when it's so hot and dry.tornado wrote: Sat 02/11/2019 20:16 nice evening here in auckland it only got to 19 degrees here. Hearing the sound of distant fireworks now that they gone on sale.

Models have been hinting at thunder potential around Sunday. Friday too but Fridays chances look weak.

Re: General November Weather
Humidity sensor looks to have gone bung, dropped 12% in one hit last night and remains lower. Not particularly impressed by the reliability of these Davis sensors, this is my third temp/hum sensor in nearly 10 years and now it also appears to be on the fritz

Re: General November Weather
all weather station hardware suffers problems with the humidity sensor
you could try cleaning it and then drying it (google how others have done that)

Yes on a lot of the AWSs over here at least, it seems the wet bulb wick of the psychrometer dries out once every two years or so, leading to erroneous 100% humidity readings (that then take weeks to rectify for a tech to get to the sites).Awhituobs wrote: Tue 05/11/2019 11:05 all weather station hardware suffers problems with the humidity sensor
