1mm only from the initial front. Fear the rest of this activity is going to slide past to the NE

I think it probably needs to be warmer for thunder, 23C or higher.

A quick fire 2.6mm here so far, rainfall rate reached 39mm/hr. Brightening up again but I'm eyeing off that pluming moisture NW of Auckland for delivering a downpour direct hit this afternoon.

A few sharp showers moving through now, hoping for something more substantial this afternoon though, just 3mm so far.

I’m right on the southern edge of it. I think I’ll mostly miss out. Still not even 1mm yet.

In the zone for heavy showers here currently, looks like parts of Waikato will miss out on the decent rain today

Thunder to my NE just now.

Collected 11mm here. Nothing amazing but grateful for anything we can get, sad that many areas needing it missed out.

Up to 10.6mm now. Front is still out in the Tasman, sun trying to break through here, currently 21.3c with 20.0c DP and the cicadas are singing again. There is still good moisture in the mid levels before the front to the west of Auckland. Another squall line might appear before the front passes the upper NI.

Luck turned just when had written today off. Just got about 5mm in 10minutes here in town and a tiny patch of red on radar bullseye struck the family farm just out town where my rain gauge is sited.

Frontal boundary weakening through Auckland so it looks like 10.6mm will be the tally here. I'll take that. That is 20mm year to date so the 2013 driest start to the year record of 18.4mm remains.

Wow, just averaged 44mm/hr for 15minutes and about to hit 20mm after being on 4mm less than 1hr ago.
EDIT: Stopped suddenly at 18.6mm
