Not the case usually, unsure about this one. More likely cloudbase, or (much less likely) gustiness. Strong southerlies in W'gton are usually between SSW and SSE, though Wahine day had some places peaking from around 210. True SW gives sheltering from S I ranges.Manukau heads observer wrote:was wellington airport closed because it was more SW and so a cross wind??
