MetService's TV max-temps (taken before 4pm) have Cheviot on 35C, Culverden and Hanmer Springs on 32C, Dunedin Aero on 31C and Alexandra on 30C.

26.9C here at 1:50pm.

Edit: Dunedin Aero since peaked at around 32C after 4pm.

Reached 34C here at about 2.00pm,Culverden wouldn't have had the NW like it was here which would explain the 2C difference

Where was the Cheviot reading taken, at an 'offical' site?

Yep - it was sent to us by MetService. Have NO idea why it's not included in their daily list John.

They must have a "third" list of max/mins ?

I'd imagine MetService only list 'minor' towns for TV if the readings are significant (be a long list otherwise). NIWA also have an EWS site about 4.5km WSW of the town-centre, close to a rail-line; not counting today, its highest temp so far this summer was 31.5C on Jan 30.

....and not forgetting the May thunderstorms. I think we should get some pre winter thunderstorms around this period, if not here but along the Southern Alps. Keep your fingers and arses crossed :D

Yes, was also similar to this yesterday morning.

Recordings at 7am this morning were Christchurch 7.5C and 100% humidity, and Le Bons Bay 24.3 and 18% humidity.....

Up to 29.2 here now. Could be 2 consecutive days of 30 for the first time this summer i think.....could be wrong about that but it seems that way! Very light ENE

Update: 30.3 degrees here now with 25% Humidity. Still hardly any wind to speak of, expecting an afternoon NE to develop sometime soon which will probably push it back to 26/27 degrees.

I see for February Greylynn has had a mean temperature of 21.1C and 10.4mm so well on track for a dry warm month here in Auckland.

Currently 26C, sunny after a cloudy morn. Had a few days in Wanaka, very comfortable weather down there after the muggy heat here last week however dps are at comfortable levels here now
