Isolated storm possibilities today and tomorrow over the South Island and Wednesday over the North Island. Tomorrow looks more favourable for the South Island with weaker capping.
We had that yellowish sunrise in Auckland this morning.

Seeing some convection going on around the foothills and arch this morning, between Amberley and Chch I'm just on the edge of the moderate risk area today and tomorrow.
24C overnight in Lyttelton, 29C already in Amberley.

Christchurch currently on 30C with a dewpoint of 17C.
Keeping an eye on Sat for some rain here, a front moving up from the SW will be running into very moist air with some upper level cooling

Yeah, even natives are becoming affected - a Kawakawa (pepper tree) I walked past just now.

Something is reflecting the radar beam but even if it is rain, no guarantee it will come ashore. No PWS up Helensville way showing any rain yet.

Cap holding strong still? Looks like it could kick off if it breaks, at least from the signs I saw this morning west of Chch.

Light northerly too according to Weather Underground. Cloud cover too, so maybe I'm hoping that the cloud layer gets warmed and starts to rise, without needing surface heating. I don't know, just want rain and a storm however they come!
Edit 4pm as I've finally got outside on a break, 31C, no wind and very stifling even though it's only reported at 46% humidity. Could indicate convergence/uplift above us?

Is that a southerly wind change moving northwards through Selwyn on radar? Wobbly line of bugs?

I see Piha picked up 4mm. But it didn't penetrate very far inland.

Southerly, with alleged beetles or aphids or whatever.
The radar looked like that when it came through here earlier.
