Re: General April Weather
Both latest EC & Icon 00Z runs have upgraded rainfall for here later tonight. An occluded front is wrapping in around the gulf. I'm not trusting models on rainfall too much at the moment, so I'll believe it when I see it.

Overcast NW cloud overhead today with temperatures in the low to mid teens. Today's maximum was 15.2C.
Not a very interesting day, weatherize.

Looks like a dry end to the month for sure. Met Service showing our daily highs will be around our seasonal norm of 20-21C to finish the month.

Yes, looks like my April rain total will probably not climb higher than it is now (34mm), the 6th consecutive dry calendar month.

Re: General April Weather
Not a drop last night. Nice and sunny now. This looks like becoming the 2nd driest April for me locally (2001-2019). Currently on 24.8mm. April 2012 was 22mm
Here is a snapshot on how poor medium term projections have been going. Model run 15.4.2020 00Z projected 10 day rainfall for here locally.
EC = 100 to 125mm
GFS = 60 to 70mm
CMC = 50 to 60mm
Access = 50 to 60mm
Actual = 7.8mm

Re: General April Weather
No precipitation here. On the warmer side today, Grey Lynn currently on 21C from a low of 14C.
Kerikeri showing 37.2mm yesterday, they have done okay for rain lately.
Hopefully May will deliver, it usually does.

Re: General April Weather
I remember a similar drought in Auckland in the late 80's or early 90's- the dams in the Waitakeres were "dam near" empty

Cambridge town has been very lucky to be under a few heavy showers that were not widespread. At times in Feb thought it would never look like this again.

Been just enough rain in march to have kept it green till now, noticed the soil is still a bit dry though planting some trees today.
Another lovely autumn day here with a 21.4 max and a light NW wind.

Re: General April Weather
NZ on the warmer side of the pattern next week with a big system moving through the south Tasman, Australia will be on the cool side from mid next week with some early season Mnt snow there. I see the SAM is now in a negative phase.

Re: General April Weather
A warm morning out there, tough running as my bubble run route has next to no shade. Dry though with that NW.
It will be really hard to pin that low down next week, GFS has been variable in modeling the upper trough anyway but data etc...do hope the North Island and drier parts of Canterbury get a decent fall out of it.

Re: General April Weather
A nice sunny warm and peaceful day to celebrate ANZAC day today.
Nice to hear the bagpipes, with the Last Post being played around 6am. It was 3.6C then.
Today's maximum was 19.8C with a slight SE but a dry southerly did move through late in the afternoon.
