Just like the webcams they use during the news "and lets go to Auckland where it is cloudy and you see nothing from the pictures..." yes we can see that?! =D>

41.4mm so far from this event :) although I was expecting a little more.

Interestingly the barometer is sitting on 987.8hpa which means the low that was formerly known as Zelia must have passed fairly close by as the BoM 06Z chart had that at 987hpa.

Rain, but it may be Monday before it gets here.

35mm is a good fall Avalanche.

Tawa got 16 mm from this event, 12 mm of that fell between 9 pm and midnight. It was quite intense at about 9:30 p.m. (0.4 mm/min) so the run-off rate on dry, hard clay was rather high. The 4 mm that fell up until 1 am was probably the most useful for shrubs and gardens.

Mana, just north of Porirua, got 20 mm.

Much nicer day up here with the passing of the 'artist formerly known as Zelia'.. still high dewpoints but nothing compared to the sauna that was yesterday.

Total of just 8mm of mostly light rain/drizzle here. Over night temps of 21/22C, until about 6am. Down to 19C now, with RH still close to 100%. Winds fairly blustery yesterday, but nothing too exceptional. Starting to clear here now.

Was just checking out ECan website for rainfall totals from yesterday's system and did a double take on the name of a site:

http://ecan.govt.nz/services/online-ser ... eNo=320010

...jeepers, you'd think they would have renamed this site by now?!?!?

EDIT: Then found this below:

We tend to get more rain when it goes mid latitude from extra tropical maybe the cold air condensing it out,ie the winter sub tropical ones are that way.

I'd be stoked with 35mm Avalanche! - we got a miserable 4.2mm over the "hill" in West Taratahi. I see Masterton recorded the highest temp yesterday (it was stifling hot, 31C with a 21C DP and high humidity). The new Metservice history graphs are a nice feature on their web page.
