I know these sorts of statistics are not always very meaningful, but Sydney has, this year, reached its annual average precipitation on the earliest date - looks like the record goes back to at least 1890.

Whatever we think of the statistics, its been a wet start to the year for many on the east coast.

Since the big "wet" began in November last year, it's certainly been ongoing with over half a metre of rain falling in March alone. Also, very cloudy with very few if any hot days. Humidity was very high especially during January and February.
November: 137.0mm/146 hours of sun.
December: 132mm/217 hours of sun.
January: 166mm/212 hours of sun
February: 356mm/170 hours of sun
March: 554.0mm/125 hours of sun. Wettest March on record breaking the old record of 521mm set in 1942.
April: 267mm/163 hours of sun.

I've lived here for 22 years now and never known it to be so wet especially during the first four months of a year. Also, some record low monthly sunshine totals have been set, particularly November and March, but I need to check the database for verification. Will do this when time allows.

Pretty cold week in Melbourne, especially for this early in the year. The minimums haven't been too low though. Maximums mostly around 11-13 this week with minimal sun at all and some rain. Warms up to 15 tomorrow then back to 11-13 maximums cloudy/showers until next Friday.

I think some inland places in the Pilbara might of had a maximum of around 10 the other day and broke May lowest daily maximum records.

Coldest week(when it comes to maximums) this early in the season since 1982 for Melbourne . I think Brisbane might be the coldest week in a century

After seven months of abnormally wet and cloudy weather, this month, so far, has seen the reverse with practically no rain falling and cold, dry and windy south west to west weather prevailing. Coldest start to winter since 1989 in Sydney, Melbourne 1982 and Brisbane 1904.
Currently just 1.6mm (to 9am today) month to date. Driest June is 4mm in 1962 and according to long term models, this will keep up until the first week of July so possibly the 1962 record will be broken. Nice to have a break from the rain but not enjoying the frequent cold and dry westerly weather. Looks like to "warm" up by Thursday next week for a few days.

I was in Hobart recently and took a tourist bus up Mt wellington that can go on closed roads. Unfortunately it couldn't make it up the last 800m up the road (I think) to the summit.
Insane amounts of snow (i haven't seen snow since 2008. Stood in between some rocks and went up to hip deep!

Got dropped off a little further down and I went for a great walk in the snow and down Mt Wellington. Surreal experience and great fun in sneakers. No wind whatsoever so I was actually fine in 2 tshirts and jeans(while walking fast) I was so lucky!

After a prolonged dry and sunny (92.8 hours) spell from the 6th to the 15th, rain, in the form of showers, returned last night. My suburb recorded 6mm to 9am today and another 6mm since then. Currently raining with some brief heavy falls. Last Wednesday and Thursday, daily maximums reached 21C for the first time since May 28th. The current wet spell looks to be short lived with a return to sunny and dry weather from Wednesday onwards.

A mate is currently down there for work and said it's been so cold (by Sydney standards) and frequently cloudy with few/occasional showers. He's jetting off to Hawaii in a few days' time to "thaw" out

Incredibly strange weather up here in the Top End for June/July, under a slow-moving northwest cloud band. Has been very overcast, cool since Monday with patchy rain and gusty southeasterlies underneath. Can't remember such a cool, cloudy period that wasn't during Summer in 12 years!

Certainly the negative IOD and lingering La Nina having an effect, 1974 vibes for sure.

We've had many years of much warmer than normal temperatures in northern Australia so this change is very welcome.

It would be welcome indeed, I lived in SE QLD from June- December in 2009 and none of the days came close, only the nights and mornings got chilly in winter. I bet its pretty rare Hobart is warmer than Bundaberg or Rockhampton in the afternoon!

A very persistently unsettled wet and cold month so far. Month to date, just one day exceeded 21C and quite cloudy especially during the first week with just 3 hours of sun. The first day was, ironically, cold and wet with a maximum of just 12C. Another cold day occurred on Tuesday when the maximum was just 13.0C with frequent heavy showers under a strong, cold southerly flow.

The July 1950 record of 336.1mm has been broken with 358.6mm (15 days) up to 9am this morning, 373% of the mean. The average is 96.1mm over 11 days. With more showers forecast over the next few days, might reach 400mm.

Incredible after the wettest March on record and the driest June since 1986. The YTD total is currently 1,906mm falling on 119 days. At this point of time of the year, the average is 832.1mm over 88 days.

Cold and showery today, 6.2mm since 9am.
