Raining well here at present, 5.5 degrees and dropping; rain has that 'hissing' sound, and smudges diagonally on the window, which tells me it's very cold rain. Also must be a bit of east in the southerly for it to contact that window-pane.

Moderate to heavy rain (2-8mm/h) for the last half hour or so here but now easing - temp dropped from 8C to 5.8C.

Mt Hutt reported snow falling at the bottom of the access road which is 500m asl.

just had a good heavy shower with a little bit of hail

Some good flashes and loud rumbles from the west. Heavy rain with slight hail here now.

We had a couple of lightning flashes and thunder about 5 minutes ago in Glen Eden - Titirangi.
And lots of rain.
It's fuzzled out now.
Who put the LED's on the lightning arrestor ?

That was the loudest crack I've heard for aages! must be the dense cold air..
Came with a 4mm/min rain rate and 2° Temp drop here

Saw 4 flashes here, 2 of them I saw the bolts through the sky :D Seems to have died now, and producing a light shower over Howick now...

Currently 4 degrees here with moderate rain. Should be snowing on the mountains down to around 600-700m.

3mm to date today. Had a heavy downpoor between 2 and 3. About to get hit by solid rain from a good developing band to the south.

I find that you can take excellent stills from your HD video camera, especially for lightning.
BTW HD video files take a long time to upload, even at 720
Who put the LED's on the lightning arrestor ?
