I am curious as to why the Met Service did not think an inversion was causing the anomalous returns on the radar.
NZWP 12Z for Feb 21st shows quite a deep inversion.

General March Weather
Saw a teeny funnel over Hauraki Gulf around 11am. It was bigger than the pic when i spotted it,

Caught this dust devil on my way home. Perfect timing as I was able to photograph it then video it as it came over me. But by that stage it had been going for a few minutes and had weakend a bit.

Lol i knew someone would mention that. Yes green on the flats but no grass there. Just young green shoots. Ground is very very dry and has wilted a huge amount today.melja wrote:Looks very green in that first pic

It's greening up here now, that the days are getting shorter and the sun isn't as strong to dissipate moisture despite the lack of rainfall.

Puffs of warm starting to come though so the NW wind should arrive soon,so another lovely day on the cards yet again after yesterdays 24deg high
