Done with what crude tools I have available... Fingers crossed, & I'll revise it to 9 CG's, two together and one just to the right of the frame :)

Great shots
Atleast with Darwin City there is some good open areas for watching/photographing storms, outside of Darwin town it is mostly bush and you watch the storms through the tree tops, last year it was good to have Foggys local knowledge on where the swamps and river plains ( open areas) are.

I never thought of the rural zone of Darwin being forest for some reason.

Excellent photos there Tgsnoopy. Reminds me of going out doing lightning photography in USA, lots of fun when you have a storm going off.

Yes, a very fun storm with some very incredible lightning! The lightning in the third photo (same as tgsnoopy's) happened within two seconds.

Looks like a few storms moving into the Darwin area now but the guys will probably still be sleeping, 4.50am there.

Line took it's time to get here from the Central Arnhem Plateau overnight. A lack of photo-ops at 4am due to low cloud over Darwin. Exploded over Berrimah an hour ago. :)

Leaving for Kununurra and Lake Argyle now.

A very nice part of the world, I see that is about an 8hr drive, meanwhile it looks stormy around Darwin http://webcams.bsch.au.com/darwin_city.html

I hope you got a heavy shower for your efforts!!

Just got back from two long days as far as Wyndham, WA. Very hot and sultry conditions from there to Katherine on the Victoria Highway. 42C today there and slightly less in Kununurra with late gusty storms. Around Timber Creek we were recording 38/24... doesn't take long to start sweating!

One from William Nguyen-Phuoc of one of the many positive bolts from yesterday's angry early morning storm. (needs volume)

Nice clap there, Will :D
Shame it didn't have a bit of a 'dump' at the end like you get here in Canterbury with a long roll

We were lucky yesterday. Just got off our 1 hour Kakadu Air flight at Jabiru and a line of storms started. Not very photogenic, but fantastic to just take in, we were given about 4 hours of intense thunderstorms all the way back on the Arnheim Highway. It went Severe Warned about an hour before we got back to Darwin. We were only out of the car a couple of minutes before it hit back in Darwin. Unfortunately Foggy's tripod tipped when the gust front hit at South Alligator in Kakadu, it smashed his lense and beat up his camera. During the intense storm we observed embedded lightning with heavy rain & strong winds, even observed the power getting knocked out. Just amazing! Tonight we may get a repeat Gulfie treat! Storms for Steven's return flight are almost garanteed.

No storms flying out of Darwin - again more turbulence near NZ. Saw lightning every day I was there apart from Saturday but that was only 45 minutes waiting for the red-eye to Sydney

Road trip to WA was well worth the effort, especially the sunset cruise on Lake Argyle. I've spent most of today backing up images and video so I'll start processing, stitching panos, etc, tomorrow. Here are a few lightning shots...
