Re: General May Weather
Once again those silly graphic charts are highly miss leading, Hoki only had 2.8mm yesterday and Haast 5.2mm so not the widespread heavy rain yesterday on the coast as it shows.
My folks in Kumara Junction said it was dry all day yesterday.

Re: General May Weather
To defend the graphs...the 3rd one (last 24 hours) seems to marry up perfectly with your Kumara figures quoted. Where's the problem here?melja wrote:Once again those silly graphic charts are highly miss leading, Hoki only had 2.8mm yesterday and Haast 5.2mm so not the widespread heavy rain yesterday on the coast as it shows.

Re: General May Weather
That chart shows between 15-25mm for hoki yeterday and 75-100mm for haast so just a little different from 2mm and 5mm they had.
I was just pointing out how they can be miss leading.

Re: General May Weather
To be fair, both sites are virtually on the coast and, based on the 24 hours to 9am this morn, MS's Hokitika Aero site actually recorded 5.8mm, its Haast site 9.8mm and, not too far inland, Franz Josef Aero recorded 31.8mm.

Re: General May Weather
35 here from that, looks like the front has beefed up over the gulf on latest radar. Like always.
Second looks it's well off the east coast on coromandel :s

Re: General May Weather
Another windy night here which must be really drying out the 30mm we had here two weeks ago, areas to the east of here that had little of that rain its only making the drought even worse and no signs of good rain in the next week.

Re: General May Weather
Ended up with 36mm from that event here (same as Whangaparaoa). A nice sunny 20C here today.
I see MetService have revised the last 2 days of that previous rainfall graphic and added the last 24 hours to 9am this morn…

Re: General May Weather
We got 36mm in Howick too. Sounds like the rain totals were quite uniform across the region.Nev wrote:Ended up with 36mm from that event here (same as Whangaparaoa). A nice sunny 20C here today.

Re: General May Weather
Nervous times for ski fields with some only 4 weeks from opening and this warm wet westerly weather hanging in there.

Re: General May Weather
Still too early to be nervous, all it takes is 1 good dump and they will be away. Plenty of time leftmelja wrote:Nervous times for ski fields with some only 4 weeks from opening and this warm wet westerly weather hanging in there.

Re: General May Weather
Christchurch will be running around 4-5C above the May average max by mid-May, unless the second half of the month is way below average it will turn out to be the warmest May on record by my estimations
