Quite a good shake here but nothing that would be damagable. My usual quake indidcators toppled over. There was another short shake about 3 minutes after that one but that could of been associated with it, like as what you get with 'dumpthunder' in a long rolling thunderclap??
Razor wrote:Yeah that was a good long shake, I'm thinking about the 5.0 mark.
I wouldn't think so. The one early this morning seemed to be like the "Initial" but it stopped quickly after about 4 seconds but an extra dump at the end but this one just stopped even though the house shook. It was only 4.7M @ 7 kms.
Another rumble just now

Here we go again, good jolt to our house sitting at the table and even the table moved.
Yeah just the one jolt here john, but really shunted the house.
I reackon the greendale goes under Rolleston and out to Tai Tapu, just hope it doesnt rupture or move roads through there like it did 10km west of rolleston.
Man, that 4.9 seemed to last forever. At least 20 seconds I would say. Could hear things continuing to bang. Its a little bit nerve racking. Before today, I hadnt felt any for over 2 weeks and now I've felt about 6 today!
People reporting it as far south as middlemarch! It sucks living in Halswell with relation to the quakes, too close to the rolleston line!

Yes seems to be something like that, a lot of the action is always at Rolleston now. In fact very few have been about Darfield they all seem to be around Rolleston or sometimes around Tai Tapu. Im about a 2 minute drive from living on a fault line that being the case

Felt quite strongly out near Akaroa too.
I presume the geologists are closely studying the patterns of aftershocks - location and magnitude - and can work out some sort of pattern. I can infer from the Quake Crowe site that the trend since the big one has been a decrease in both magnitude and frequency, but only a gradual and uneven one. (so we're still getting the odd one up to 5)
Had quite a laugh from this quake! It is my mums birthday today. At that very time we were singing "Happy birthday to you..." *Mum blows out candles* then bang, a earthquake. We were like, MUM what did you wish for!, was quite funny:D
I think we will definatly cross that average Razor, felt a slight wobble here house creaked amongst the wind.

First one ive felt in awhile, around 10:15am heard the rumble then a slight rattle followed by a second wave with a jolt/ rattle.
Its not up on Geonet yet but the drums are showing it, looks to be about a 3.8 magnitude.
