I was outside at the time. You feel these things moreso when you are inside.
If more people were outside when a substantial earthquake struck, then it wouldn't be so bad

A magnitude 3.7 around 10:30am today released 6 tonnes of energy and was centred off bottle lake forest in the ocean.
Was felt by many eastern suburbs as a long quake up to 15 seconds in duration.

No. He's going off information off Steve Crow's ChCh Live quake site.

I think they mean the equivalent of '6 tons of TNT energy' ;-) (or about 25 gigajoules).

Yes John i still have a feeling a good jolt will happen out of the blue when we least expect it, i was thinking more a 5.6-5.8 though but still enough to rattle the nerves and make more new claims for EQC.

Felt a tiddler earlier on which i fogged off thinking nah couldnt have been, but it was a 2.9 magnitude centred in the Styx Mill Reserve at 9:28pm just behind the dump there.

Well according to Paul Gorman in this morning's PRESS, he said that aftershocks could continue well into March or April next year. Mind you alot will be unnoticed and very small but the odds are still there on getting a reasonable shake of around 4 to 5M.

Window rattling here about 5.21am - unknown quake? it had 'that sound' about it.
Edit to add: there was a background low rumble, and magpies burst into song and chatter immediately afterwards. I see Geonet now has a report of a quake at 5.34am but my experience was definitely 5.21am.

There we go again a good quake here in kaiapoi, quite big in town from the sounds of it with phone lines down.
Whole house just rocked back and fourth like mad, pools still going slightly.
Could be a 5 pointer i think

Edit: problems in the CBD i suspect this is why no has posted from christchurch as power is out and all traffic lights are down.

Here it is.

I bet everyone scarpered from the boxing day sales, i think the malls were closed as a precaution earlier on and some shops shut because of no power.
