Wheres the broom when you need it eh Micheal?
Yes pine needles are good for the washing.Michael wrote:at least ok for washing.
Did you add them to the wash cycle? I did and my colours came out brighter......
Looks like a similar situation two days ago occurring tomorrow. Another trough (weak however).

Re: General November Weather
South-easterly freshening here, temp. dropping (was 21 a moment ago, now 20.2) & can see on Rain Radar a large area of something which must be imminent. Edges of hills looked blurry beyond Geraldine as I travelled back from Ashburton fifteen minutes ago. Cloud down to tops of Mt Hutt and Mt Somers, i.e. maybe to 5,500 feet.

Re: General November Weather
Some interesting layers of cloud about this afternoon, from CU congestus to stratocumulus and mid to upper level cloud.
Had some brief spots of rain after 6pm, apart from that quite a muggy day even with the sun behind the cloud at times.
Saturday looks to be the strongest set up for inland afternoon/evening heat showers, so some could turn thundery about and west of the Foothills.

Re: General November Weather
The low passing well east of NZ looks fairly impressive.
A big upper ridge crossing NZ over the next few days will lead to stable conditions across NZ. But isolated showers from cumulus buildups can occur due to low level convergence.

Re: General November Weather
Yes, cool upper air currently over the NI moves away and then it looks too warm for thunder over NZ for the next few days, just the usual low top summer showers from heating/convergence.

Re: General November Weather
Beautiful day at the moment: 26.4 degrees, 51% humidity, northeasterly just beginning to sigh in the pines, blue skies; but... buildup of haze/murk to the south towards Timaru, large white clouds piling up to southwest beyond Geraldine; the odd little raggy grey-brown cloud drifting in from the south and disintegrating before it reaches here. Are we expecting any change? - couldn't tell from rain-radar.

CB's out to the east of here now. They don't look very strong but Rickys tracker is picking up a few strikes off them.

Re: General November Weather
GFS seems to be suggesting some showers or drizzle tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully that stays away!

Re: General November Weather
Lots of grey clouds just east of me, unfortunately it looks as if they will stay east of me.
The wind turned E here at 2pm today but back to SW at 2.30pm, keeping us in the mainly sunny conditions.
Nice evening though, still 20C.

Re: General November Weather
Shouldnt be any drizzle tomorrow most of the action will be inland and west of the Foothills, where afternoon cloud build ups will lead to showers there and slight risk of thunder.CHCH Weather Chaser wrote:GFS seems to be suggesting some showers or drizzle tomorrow afternoon. Best area looks to be from the foothills of North Canterbury, so Richard you are in some luck.
There might be some showers spilling eastwards in the evening, but most will be away from the city i would think.
Another warm day reaching 27C at work and still 25C at home in Kaiapoi by 5pm with a breezy NE, 19C currently as of 8:45pm so not too bad.
Plenty of Cumulus/Humilis around for much of the day, especially this afternoon with that scattered look across the blue sky.
Tomorrow should see simular temperatures again.

Hopefully something builds up in Hanmer then because i will be there
Temps in Christchurch have been very warm lately, mean max 21.5. Summer has definitely arrived.
Can't believe Chirstmas is only 4 weeks away. Although santa is screwed. There are no chimneys left in christchurch;)
