A couple of shots of the shelf cloud out west. I see on the PWS up to 25mm fell in one hour.

Our turn at the moment. A few rain bands and occasional thunder. Everything is embedded, no CG's to be seen (yet at least).

Tuesday morning showing some potential with a cold pool crossing but tomorrow doesn't like much of a set up to me.

Tuesday morning does look intesting.. tommorow i think we should just have at least low risk instead of moderate. tonights storm had a good shelf cloud and had some good CGs seen from here. lightning activity died before the storm got to my area. but still heard a fair amount of distant thunder and saw good lightning

Good reports and photographs from up there in Auckland today, New Zealand's capital city for thunderstorms.
Interesting to see what tomorrow may? bring.

was epic here but as mentioned they were mainly anvil crawlers...but very bright with purple colours and right above too which made the thunder like 2 seconds later sort of thing
34mm of rain in total here, just the ticket

I see reports of a Tornado like damage (could be straight line winds instead though) just south of Waiuku around 6pm last night, which backs up similar reports of sudden strong gust of wind in this area (earlier though), and others are reporting building damage even just north of Waiuku too I see.
Edit: I do see a sudden gust of wind recorded at a Waiuku weather station at 6pm
actually it was a wind direction change, so it was more of a squall line

The NZ Herald reported that 'strong winds lifted the roof off a Waiuku garage and smashed all the windows in the house'. Eight domestic and regional flights were cancelled after a lightning warning was issued on Sunday evening.

Plenty of distant thunder and lightning last night but again missing out here as the squall line collapsed, only the 11mm from little downpours and rain so far for the thread.

Re: Possible north & central NZ T-storms & heavy rain - Nov 10-12
theres now a moderate risk out for tommorow as well so i will extend this thread to tommorow. not sure about today though. metsevice has a moderate risk for east auckland (where i am) and low for the rest. there is a rainband heading our way from the north. has produced some strikes. so maybe a rumble maybe not. but we will have to wait and see. tommorow is looking unstable. with some small hail possible

Amazing how that exploded into life on the rain radar, from nothing to thunderstorms within 30 minutes

Good thunder here in Albany, can see most of the flashes. Great timing, about to go into a long meeting in a totally enclosed room without windows :-/

Re: Possible north & central NZ T-storms & heavy rain - Nov 10-12
its odd that they coming from the east instead of the west
edit: seems to have weakend cant hear anymore thunder dammit. tommorow there might be some more thunder and even hail so we will wait and see
edit: i may be wrong but it might reintensify. im just gotta keep a eye on the radar. if it doesnt then tommorow will have to be our next shot for thunder and rain possible hail here.

I arrived in Auckland this morning for 5 weeks. Its been hosing down here in Stanmore Bay for more than an hour with plenty of thunder and flashes and the temp has dropped dramatically!
