Can't wait for the game in Hamilton, partly cloudy with a fresh easterly  and 24c expected 8)

Weather for the Wellington game also looks reasonable ;)

Fine morning in AK with temp20C Dp17C. Looks like we will get some humid weather in the coming week with the chance of heavy rain at the end of the week.

I notice some low level instability on the soundings over the North Island today. The NE flow over Auckland will be strong enough to prevent sea breeze convergence/showers developing. But Northland east coast must be getting some onshore showers.

I notice Met Service are going for the risk of thunder inland both islands tomorrow, Monday.

Any instability will be driven by high surface temperature/dewpoints rather than particularly cold upper air. I am favouring the central North Island for possible thunder due to rising dewpoints there.

Nice day in AK with temp 25C dp17C.

Tuesday looks a bit more convective I think for these areas... :?:

It looks as if Friday will be the most interesting in terms of heavy precipitation as the low comes down effecting Northland & Tauranga especially. Perhaps the Coromandel Peninsular will shelter Auckland somewhat.

I'm in Russell, Bay of Islands.
Cloudy and muggy here.

End of the week looks very wet for North Eastern parts, if the Low center gets out West /Northwest of Northland that would bring the heavy rain in to Auckland.

Low cloud starting to spoil our day here. Still about 20C with patches of blue.

My partner is "chatting" to friends at the moments in the US. Parts of New York are predicted to get 2ft of snow. One friend is in New York City and has had 7in so far and another friend is in New Jersey and it is currently -7F (about -22C  ).

Though they are used to heavy snow and 7in probably isn't all that much to them. I'd be giggling my head off

34C max reported at Hanmer today - they're in a basin surrounded by mountains. More seasonable day in Chch (up to low 20s); certainly cooler than recent days.

Not bad day today lots of summer sun 8) and 23dg I recorded seemed quite hot inbetween the SW dying and the NE coming in I was also mowing the lawns at the time so would have felt hotter.
Low cloud rolled in off the sea around 5:30pm not bad out there now though 14dg currently but it will eventually drop.
Could be some Inland TS for both isands tomorrow wouldn't mind one of those TS from along the Plains to spill over to the coast :D although that low cloud would have to clear which it won't unless we get some relativly warm air.
Yes keep an eye towards end of this week for North of the north island with that moist humid NE flow and maybe heavy rain.
Cheers
JASON TIPPET.

NORTH CANTERBURY THE BETTER SIDE OF THE WAIMAK

Lol! didn't know that existed. it seems like it's picking up accurate temps atm. Probably the sun interfers with it in the morning.

That Cambridge reading is always too high, comparing it with Hamilton Airport. ;)

Gidday Guys,

We recorded a blistering 31.2 C today at 1327.... unbelievably, my pastures could do with a day or two of rain...however, that would increase facial excema risks... lol :D farmers are never really happy!

Graham, did you break tyhe 30C barrier today down in Waimauku? :?:

Yip, 30.5°C today. We are on a small ridge so I suspect we catch any breeze which may help keep us slightly cooler. I work in town so got to walk the blistering pavement instead of barefoot on the lawn! 8)

Cheers,

G

Today looks as if it will be the North Island's warmest day so far apart from Ruatoria - Masterton on the east. I'm predicting 28c for Hamilton as the max. temps have been climbing the last 4 days :D

I'm thinking 29c for Tokoroa/Taumarunui, 27c for Palmy, Taupo, Tauranga, Auckland, Whangarei, 26c for Rotorua, Wanganui, 25c for New Plymouth,

Currently 25c @ Midday, mainly calm, mostly sunny. 8)

To get 29C in Christchurch you need a west or northwester on the surface. Ch is too close to the coast for those kind of temps without a proper Fohn land breeze.

I always believe the Kawerau temperature readings, if you visit the place you can actually see/visualise how hot it can get there with the town sitting on a plain, right next to large mountains.

It's currently sunny & clear, 20c, light easterly :P

Temp could reach 29c today. Perfect cricket weather \:D/
Hopefully the pitch will be a belter
