Record Frost

Unread post by NZ Thunderstorm Soc »

I received a record breaking minimum overnight temperature of minus 6.5C at my station here this morning. Bob Crowder up the road was minus 4.4C which was nearly a record for him.
Apparently there were reports of frozen water pipes here in ChCh this morning.

Hi John,

Coldest July frost to date this year. -3.4 this morning. The coldest temp recorded so far this year is -3.9 on the 18th June.
Interesting how the frost, like rain varies over town.

I cycled out to North Beach this afternoon, and noticed that there was still a little ice on some small puddles in the Avonside area. Could be another biggie tonight if the breeze dies down. A dusting of snow is still visible on Mt Herbert.

Yes there have been record minimums over the last few days around the country. Zero in Dargaville interests me!
Could be traces of frost around in the "Winterless North" !!!

i was just in northland yesterday, and -1.5 at bryderywn, and frost still on the ground in the shade 10:30 am
dargaville : its not surprising for them, as they are low lying and there is lots of low lying plains near there,....
