Carter observatory's DHTML-based site is nice too. Most people do a crummy job with DHTML (lots of unecessary widgets and crap), but when it's done well it can be excellent.

Edit: I just looked at their site again (I haven't visitied it for a while) and it's now been completely redesigned... :?

For me content is king, as clear as possible, though sometimes you have to do stuff to make sure people read things!

I doubt whether Trademe have a legal leg to stand on. They could go for copyright infringement over the color scheme but it'd be a damn tough fight.

Couldn't they have "trademarked" that look? You can trademark colours, words, smells and sounds that identify your business's products or services. As long as you have been using it first and have registered it there should be no reason why they couldn't take action against this.

Of course it's not the best image wise, come on, the webpage won't hurt them as much as it will beating on some poor schmuck in the media in the process
There is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes.

I think they'd do themselves more harm than good pursuing a frivolous 'look-and-feel' case.

But then maybe "any publicity is good publicity".

Whatever, I think they suck if they do take legal action against the guy, and I hope they lose at great expense.

So there, take that Trademe, nyah nyah. :P :P :D

Aaaah, I see! Perhaps Trademe decided it wasn't worth pursuing?
