Must be one of the driest Augusts on record here in the auckland area (although eastern parts of the auckland area received more rain in the last rain epoiside we had (that northerly front)
maybe aslo one of the lowest rain days on record too?
Since 1914 lowest rain total for auckland?
maybe also one of the sunniest augusts?
and least windiest?
temperatures only normal here, maybe even slightly below normal (colder nights?)

must be good Oz getting above average rain for a change.....while you guys get it, we dont (seems to be that way anyway)

From my station in Templeton:

Average temp: 8.6 °C

Max temperature: 20.2 °C (20th)
Average max: 13.9 °C

Min temperature: -2.2 °C (15th) 4 days <= 0 °C
Average min: 3.6 °C

Rainfall: 23.6 mm (on 11 days)
Max rain: 8.2 mm (7th)
Year to date: 278.0 mm

Another warmer than normal month, again by over 1 °C.

I got 21.4mm all up for August here in Somerfield, driest month so far this year. Only 299.3mm for this year so far.
A quick glance through my diary showed Saturday the 20th to be my warmest day at 20C
Coldest night was minus 1.5C on the morning of Monday the 15th

For August...

Highest temp was 21C (highest in 3 years recorded at this location)
Lowest temp was 0.1C

Median temp 2003 8.8C
Median temp 2004 5.8C
Median temp 2005 9.8C (Dunedin, Musselburgh Pumping Station 8.8C - 2nd highest since 1947)

It certainly is good to have decent rain of late as although the year to date amount looks ok around 150mm of that fell on the one day in February.
