Unsettled in the north
Does look like a moist easterly will keep the weather mucky in the north this week, despite the ridge. Extensive low cloud and showers, the worst of it about east coast Northland. Heavier showers by the weekend. Some light showers in Auckland this evening.

I see that tonight on TVOnes weather that Brendon got it wrong with last months maximum temperature.
This after keeping us in suspence throughout the news
Also i see there is major low development in the North Atlantic brewing.
I wonder if it will die out before reaching Ireland or the UK.

then back to westerlies?
must have been that low from the tropics to the NE of us that pushed alot of moiture into the high to get pushed onto us in the easterly, or maybe its a convergenece zone around the high (have not had a lookie at the sat pic yet, too early in the morning, LOL)

Interesting to see the rakaia mouth flooded yesterday. A conbination of high tide and heavy rinfall in the catchment, wonder if it flooded again today with the NW still persistent about canterbry.

GFS seems to be having trouble with forecasting this weekend up here(jumping all over the place!)
But.. it has it's eyes firmly set on Tuesday-Wednesday of next week for northerlies and possible thunderstorms, especially Northland.
Potentially severe thunderstorms for inland NSW too.. a sure sign spring is here

Partly cloudy day today, though it has been the windiest in atleast 2 months (with moderate E), 15c
Showers or rain developing tonight, easterlies persisting with thunderstorms possible in the coming days.
Monday-Tuesday still looking very warm with the northeast wind, especially southern North Island (GFS and it's outputs forecasting Wellington to hit 21c on these days )

Our downside was a cloudy working week, the upside a glorious weekend.Michael wrote:They get no wind from the NE even when the isobars are packed. It was like that in 1988-89Foggy Hamilton wrote:

Agree NZstorm, possible afternoon thunderstorms tomorrow for inland north Island areas. Of course we have to get that cloud out of the way for heating might I add!
