see, did not I not say, it will happen, but not overnight,Gary?
I got sick of hearing everybody say it. We've been hearing the prediction for a week! Omarama only got around 1-2cm in total though, dammit.
If it weren't for those meddling kids!

you are in a big rain shadow area, so you are not going to get as much snow as on the coast for starters...i.e it has to be big enough rain/showers to make it all the way inland to Omarama ...which is why often you miss out at other times...
just my 2 cents worth, inflation adjusted

Excellent to get reports from Invercargill. Heavy hail reports out of Napier with gales.
Squally shower has arrived here again.

Hail and sleet showers now returning to Chch - could turn to snow again quite soon, as it's only about 2-3C and the clouds look brown.

Snow has arrived on the Tararuas... Quite low but getting dark so hard to see how much...
My guess is that the Desert Road will close very soon...

Snow should already to be falling to quite low levels in the southern and central North Island, with 6pm obs showing temps of 4C at Kelburn, 5C in Taupo, and 6C in Hamilton - all 3 stations having recent precipitation.

Yip - we have just had a couple of squalls go through - had 33 knots by the house here, still in my 'office' clothes so didn't walk up the the more exposed top paddock.
