...I think that nothing will happen except for strong cold southerly winds//
Nothing cold in the satpix :shock:

There is no convective cloud in the southern oceans because the air is stable down there. Very cold on the surface, not so cold above. As this cold air comes north I would expect it to turn a bit more unstable over warmer seas. Low topped cb's should result.

Went for a short chase yesterday, counted 5-6 cbs in all. All low topped and high base, still it was nice to drive through some heavy showers south of Tai Tapu.

I noticed that Cb too observed just north of BP from out at West Melton.
Lots of glaciating going on so didn't really expecting anything, yesterday afternoon, sadly :(

No this cb was out south of Tai Tapu, that my friend was the other that did produce lightning.

Oh, :o I never saw that one, although there was heavy glaciation that way.
Never saw any any wet ground anywhere coming back to ChCh via Prebbleton
