cyclones this summer

what do u all think about the prospect of any cyclones reaching nz this cyclone season??

The water will have to be a bit warmer so they dont loose force and probably an early end to the westerly belt which would make a change :!:

and of course a NW monsoon across the equator

not sure what michael is trying to say there....
obvioulsy NZ only gets the remains of a TC that comes down this way...but it can still be destructive, especialy if it has interacted with cold air and then formed a mi latitude depression and re- deepens...
but, yes, we must be way overdue to get hit my one...maybe this summer might be the one...

Well as fun as they can be, living in Northland now, I REALLY hope we dont get one :P Last one that came here caused the nasty flooding and destruction (i was on holiday then here) and I wouldnt like to see it happen to my house.. In fact i'd be rather annoyed at the weather gods for that.
