Yes i'm seriously looking into buying the Davis Vantage Pro wireless, there currently aren't any good weather stations in Hamilton, (wintec is crap, others are offline, EW only picks up rain, the Glenview aint flash either)Manukau heads observer wrote:sure hope you do decide to get a weather station
Can't wait to stick it up on our roof where it's very exposed facing the river, willing to record the exceptional squalls we get and the severe frosts!!
I may even stick in a 'fog' cam, or storm cam? Pointing NW

WOW
was looking out the window as that last squall went through. I'm in Hobsonville, looking out over Herald Island. Two simultaneous bolts of lightning around the Albany area, I was looking straight at them. That's made my day. I wonder what they hit?

Just out:
The MetService severe convection/tstorm outlook can be a work of art sometimesIssued at: 1:50 pm 8 Oct 2005 NZDT
An unstable airmass covers much of the North Island, and the northern South Island. Very strong westerlies are spreading over the North Island. In Auckland, Waikato, and Coromandel Peninsula today, further thunderstorms are likely, and there is a moderate risk of damaging winds with gusts over 110 km/h. Damaging tornados are also possible in this area. There could also be hail, with diameter up to 20mm.
Further south in Waitomo, western parts of Taupo, Taumarunui, Taranaki, Wanganui and northern Manawatu, also western Nelson, some thunderstorms are also likely.Although they are not likely to be severe, there could be squally winds, and hail up to 20mm. However, the risk is a little lower south of Taranaki.
