That was a good one! I think one of those around Albany hit powerlines or near, I was eating at a North Shore Garden centre and the power flicked off for a sec with the flash! Quite a few Branches down on the drive back to the city, very strong Gusty winds.. reports of roof damage, odd powerlines down etc
Hey Foggy I'll help ya out with the Weatherstation if you want, would be great to have something good in Hamilton like you say! Thinking of a VP myself too

Hi Foggy, we are switching all our stations (including the Davis) over to PLCs and retiring the complicated logger/console/computer setups we've been using up to now. Let me know if you want any info on those.Foggy Hamilton wrote:Yes i'm seriously looking into buying the Davis Vantage Pro wireless...

Fudge you guys got it going up there just heard Auckland Superdome's whole roof has been blown of and away completly the Black Eyed Peas concert was meant to be there but has been moved to St James Theatre and they have had to split tickets up with 2 different halfs to the concert to fit everyone in.
Next door neighbour disturbed our phoneline with his digger so its been out until 4pm.
Heavy rain at times this morning with small excitment before it eased with a Clap of thunder with a heavy downpour and some large hailstones size of peas winds reached 70kmh at that point too. Too short lived to get anything bugger.
Cheers hope you North islanders stay safe.
Cheers
JASON.

51 kts recorded at the brynderwyn station
strongest they have had!
again the wind was strongest in the south kaipara/south northland area...hence that why tiri tiri getting 70 kt gusts!
i.e waiuku was not getting winds as strong, when other times they would beat
them easily

It's been cool with some drizzle, but nothing exciting. There's a fresh dusting of snow on the higher peaks, but it's been washed and/or blown from the lower levels already.tich wrote:What's Omarama been like today Gary? I know it's been snowing earlier on the passes further north. No more rain in central Chch since about noon; the sun has now come out. But it's still chilly, though the wind has eased.
I'm off to Twizel now to get the Meridian Energy controlroom weather station online, so hopefully you'll be able to see what's happening at that end of the Benmore range soon!
