Well rain has set in nicely, with a moderate northwesterly, should get up to 18mm from this here in Hamilton up to tomorrow day break.

That's what we want to hear! :D Also a few strikes about Taranaki this morning and a whole heap offshore Cape Reinga, NE direction.

Mostly sunny here with a few passing showers, sky unstable though, light winds and 13c

But how shitty does the weekend look? :D

You can see those CB's just off Taranaki for sure on sat image below :D .
I see Wellington,Wairapa area is under moderate severe thunderstorms today :) it would make sense too seems they have had a few Thunderstorms around there past few days which includes the one in Kaikoura that we Cantabrians missed :( ohh well be interesting to see what happens next few days here even forecasted heavy showers.
Fine here warm too 14C NE wind small CU on Plains to west.
Cheers
JASON.

Well todays drama did not last long... It now looks fairly fine to the West, but I reckon we might be in for a slapping around 9 - 10pm tonight...

Will report back then... 8)

Foggy, can I ask where you found the Milford Speci?

South Tasman Sea looks very cold and unstable.

The helicity values are creeping up over the west of the North Island which supports both strong wind squalls or tornadoes.

Upper ridge over central and north Tasman Sea is evident by the lower cloud tops there today. Still managed a couple of heavy showers in Ak today despite the lowish cb tops.

Haast has been very cold and wet this afternoon - a wintry 4C at 4pm with 8.4mm in the previous hour. Must be snowing on the Haast Pass.
Some brief rain in Chch in the last few hours.

Just heard that the SH73 over Arthur's Pass is closed by snow - must be dumping heavily up there. By contrast, skies have cleared in Chch, but we can expect cold wet weather tomorrow.

Could do too, Brian :-k
Barometer very low here, now at 974.6hPa, although it is set to 3m above sea-level here so it would be about 978hPa sea-level, - lowest this year.
May get lower as the low is set to hover just off the coast here :D

Yes, I know it should but I have always had it set to my land level.
I worked out a rough gauge level so that I can adjust to sea level if I want to.
I will set it to sea level when we move inland next year.
