Light sleet falling on Omarama.

Unread post by Gary Roberts »

It's been a strange day in the MacKenzie, although I guess it's mostly typical of spring here.

Basically fine all day but on the drive home from Twizel I watched some very claggy looking stuff blow in from the Lindis pass.

By the time I hit Omarama it was blowing quite hard and a misture of hail, sleet and possibly snow was falling to ground (430m ASL).

I notice Queenstown only just got past 8c at 5pm, lingering around 6-5c all day

Yeah, it was -3.2° at 7 AM here in Omarama, and reached a high of 13.1° just before 2 PM.

Apparently Milford Sound was only 3C at 1pm, with snow falling (according to TV1 Weather). Unstable looking skies around Chch this afternoon, with some showers visible on 4pm radar.(patch in SE Chch) Probably nothing too significant.
