We are getting a bit of wind at the moment, from a generally southern direction. Power out around the BOP, was off here for a while and trees down in places.

The wind mostly southerly but at times is SSW rather than SE is there a reason for that?

the clouds here show the wind is SSE at altitude, but yes its being SSW here alot of the time...because it runs up the coastline and then comes around the port waikato hills and bends in shore a bit...also because the land is slowing it dowm all the way across the NI, that also gives the wind a deflection to the SW more...i think...or is that me taking through a whole in my head (with the wind blowing out of it)

Max Gust recorded here 46.7 km/h. Unfortunately I could do with Brian's new 10m mast. My anemometer is somewhat sheltered from todays wind direction. General lay of the land and trees.

After all the wind we have had, I thought my anemometer must have been broken, no wind at all since 9:18 last night. It has just been dead calm - most unusual.

Well it was dead calm, but when we got a small puff of breeze and nothing happend, I got suspicious. A spider had taken the opportunity while it was calm to spin web all around the cups, locking it up.

How are you going to deal with that sort of problem Brian :?:
