Looks like a storm Inland Otago
Actually near Invercargill.

looks favourable for Southland again tomorrow. They get the southerly seabreeze converging with the NE flow down there, similar to Wanganui.
Thunderstorms are all about convergence. Look for the boundaries when forecasting storms. :)

Some light drizzle in Auckland this morning with temp 20C/dp18C at 6am.

Convectively today loooks a rerun of yesterday. Temps should climb into the mid to high 20's in many areas apart from eastern coasts.

7am rain radar showed a heavy shower line over the waitekeres
also heavy shower lines again streaming off northland, north of dargaville

that low moving south i say will develop a warm front right over the upper north island
this drizzle is just the begining!!
(for every hopefull of drougth breaking rain)

Some low cloud over the Mackenzie and Central, but that's it. Not even drizzle. We could sure use some rain.

Heavy rain early this morning, 6mm so far. Mostly cloudy now, fresh ENE, 22c/dewpoint 18c.

Looks like that rainband is weakening. A change to fine weather, with westerlies by the weekend.

the low to the north moving down getting more and more organised
wind increasing here
some light passing showers around now
we are in for widespread rain over the top half of the NI tomorrow i would say

only the part to the NW of northland
a new rain band is developing to south of the low, and moving our way
but if you are refering to CB with lightning, then yes we are out of luck now...
but i am wanting rain, LOL, not lightning producing cb's (although that would be good to get too,m LOL

Will be one or two light showers about Auckland City, especially from evening. Isolated heavy showers, the heavy ones more likely in the west of Auckland. :)

Cooler in the city area today with just 21C at midday, airport was 24C.

Finally the sunshine can be seen after 2 days of doom and gloom :D long fine intervals here at the moment but the gloom will probly return this evening  can't see inland at the moment still too much scatterd low cloud about.
Any ideas on Tomorrow guys? MS don't have anything on Thunder outlook for us yet models suggest a different story. :?
Cheers

Lucky you - the gloom hasn't lifted yet in central Chch :( , though no more drizzle since this morning. Hopefully, the airflow will tend more north than northeast tomorrow, and skies will clear somewhat.

We collected a very handy 20mm during the morning - the rain was pretty heavy but eased within a couple of km on my way to work today, appeared to be fairly localised. I hope we get some more rain out of the system! The tanks really need it.

More thunder in Southland tonight!

Friday afternoon is a high risk for thunderstorms in Canterbury with a southerly change due later in the day. I don't expect anything tomorrow.

Beefy shower in inland Canterbury (somewhere about Methven and Mt Hutt I guess) on 7pm radar. Still dull in Chch, but dry (unless you count the tiniest hint of drizzle). The northeasterly wind has become quite strong and gusty this afternoon.

Typical change here from foggy SE yesterday to classic ENE y'day evening and today. Felt quite hot but I have seen no readings.

Looks like typical north of Waimakarri scenario today with that river funnel affect again Tony :D . Fine here from 5-6:30pm with blue dome skies and the smallest of low skits of cloud.
20.1C today with fresh NE just under 30kmh.
Could see some dark scoured out cloud to NW when it cleared looks like the strenthing NE wind had done this.
Tomorrow will be different again with hopefully sunshine by late afternoon and a high of 22C but yes Friday looks better bet now.
Cheers

Looks to be less convective potential over the country today. Lower temps/humidity over the NI. Wanganui/Southland regions still being the areas favoured for isolated afternoon Thunderstorms today.

More drizzle in Canterbury this morning!
