Getting some thunder, though it is pretty murky and embedded so no cloud features can be seen
Cheers,

60mm recorded on the west side of the peninsular late last night!
(we got 15mm only here)
flash flooding, side of roads a bit of a mess
we are still in the generation zone....a shower over south auckkand now
fine weather out to our NW
note, i need to confirm more on the 60mm (700 feet altitude)
another rain gauge a few kms east only 30mm
update. 50mm more like, there was only 10mm before

Still raining here in central AK but looks like the weather will improve this afternoon as the front moves south.
Should be a few ts over central/lower NI this afternoon.

In for a day of heavy rain at long last!
Monday is also shaping up nicely for more heavy rain.
Can anyone else access the MetService sites?

Met Service is OK now anyway...
Today is shaping up exactly the same as yesterday here... 100% overcast, humid etc... Looks like we might get another storm later...

A couple of Cb's have developed over Northland, near Whangarei.
Strikes on the tracker over the top of Northland are probably from those clouds in the South.

Yes, definately from the Cb inland from Whangarei.. must be fairly weak..
Looks like the eastern Coromandel is getting some very heavy rain now!

Starting to clear from the north-west, behind the murk to the north are some good looking cu - they are really boiling up quickly... just a shame it's so late in the day!
Directly north is a mature cb with anvil, no too sure how far away it is, over the Kaipara area is my guess.
Cheers,
G

I've done a short (1 picture taken every minute for 10 minutes) animation of a cu at sunset - nothing spectacular, but I like it!

Nice to see the sun out again.
Air looks a tad unstable over the central NI to upper SI. So isolated TS over the inland ranges in those regions. fairly stable elsewhere today.

Pretty much a fine day over Auckland now with 24C but some t/cu.
Can see a cb top to SE. Should be a few thunderstorms central North Island this afternoon.
