Big gusts coming through now up to near gale have been strong for most of the day but not like this.
No rain since 1pm this afternoon although starting to spit again and looks like some more rain moving in 8) .
Cheers
Jason.

I don't know about heavy anymore, but showers returned sometime late this afternoon (while I was watching King Kong at the movies), and looks like we're in one of these 'relentless showers' situations, where the shower activity keeps on continuing despite the rising barometer and forecasts of a clearance.

Windiest day here in a LONG time (1.5 years) , maximum 10 min average was 62km/h, with a gust to 74 km/h!  :D

Large branches and small trees down again here.

Passing clouds today had a very 'salty' look about them.

Christmas day is looking quite murky :?

If it makes you feel better Michael, it looks as if Otago is in for more rain. I can see the clouds to the south and west heading this way.

Twas the night before Christmas.

When the clear blue skies turned to dark
And the moon to catch the mistletoe and make it spark.

The stockings all hung up with care
And the smell of a fresh North East wind blowing in the air.

We have said our goodbye's to the areas of scatterd Cumulus
to replace it with happy spirits and the joy Christmas brings us.

From the deep south where a man sits in his chair with a can of speights
and all the winds become calm and slowly abate.

From Northland to Taupo
Where many young sleep with excitment and old people snore.

From Hawkes Bay to the Marlborough sounds
Where santa leaps from house to house in joyful bounds.

And Canterbury to Southland and also the west coast
Where many await a day of fun filled happyniess and Christmas roast.

For there will be no lightning nor no thunder this year
For this is a Christmas that will bring a bright and happy holiday cheer.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT. :D
Have a great day tomorrow everyone.

Cheers
Jason.

Well, I've awoken (after only about 4 hours sleep :D) this morning to a beautiful day, one right out of the bag. It's 17°C, still and not a cloud in the sky (visible from my place).

I'd like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year holiday period. Please drive safe and lets hope we don't have totally boring weather the whole time.

May your day be pleasant, spent in the company of friends and family.

Regards, Neill :)

After yesterday's sunshine, heavily overcast now. Showers expected, supposed to be gone by mid-afternoon. Trust that some will get the weather they want, sounds good in the north at present.

It rained overnight and is partly cloudy now. If we can get more rain over the next month or so it may avert the looming electricity shortages.

Now I'm off to Lake Ohau and Twizel to get those bloody weather stations finished! :D

Well, my beautiful clear sky has gone overcast, the temperature now seems quite cool at 18.5 here. The breeze is up a little and anything could happen. It's a pity such a promising start to the day has amounted to so little so far.

Lets hope it stays dry during the day so that kids can enjoying playing outside with any new toys they have. It can change into a torrential downpour type thunderstorm in the late evening for the enjoyment of us adults :)

A few light showers here this morning but not enough to wet the concrete yet but it has darkened up and is heavier now, yes, its wet now...

Just got the barbecue done in time.

Merry Christmas everyone, Metservice has the possibility of a thunderstorm for Christchurch this afternoon.
