yes amazing sunset i saw that aswell 10 pm radar looks good rain coming down over northland gonna be an interesting day 2morow

lots of rain at brynderwn (eastern northland)

45 knots gusting in stations around the gulf already
3mm here so far
more active cloud band moving south onto far north....

more active cloud band moving south onto far north....
That really activated didn't it! :shock:

Just persistant lightish rain here for now.. 18c. light E.. rising to gale tonight.

Mokohinau AWS reporting severe gales throughout the night..

Light to mod rain here, about 9mm so far, mod to fresh NEasterly.

Currently 19C, dewpoint now up to 18C.

10mm overnight light to mod rain heaver rain setting in now very intense cbs coming down onto northland now form the north no gales here yet must be still comming

gusting to 55kts at tiri tiri now
i would expect they will get to 75 knots or higher
(i have heard via the nowcasting of tiritiri gusting over 80kts once in a easterly (there is a squash zone that occurs between great/little barrier and to the top of the coromondel ;)

That Sattelite image is showing this beast up very nicly ckeck out MS image it's almost got a nice huge cell look to it just off Northland. :shock: 8) .
Heavy rain warnings now gone up to 140-180mm for the eastern ranges with 70-100mm on lower lying areas.
Will keep watch indeed.

Light to mod rain continues here, 17mm so far for the episode, a fresh NE.

Dewpoints now up to 20C.

getting windier
rain heavy now
gusting to 33 knots
visibility getting low!

going to be better than a tail end to a cyclone!

main rainband has gone through here now yes it did fell like the tail end of a cyclone when the band came through still raining light to mod wind has eased a bit aswell baro 997 and still falling

Rain has been heavy here for the last hour with a fresh to strong Easterly


I see Greylyn has had 12.9mm over the past hour.

like the tail end of a cyclone
just got back from doing a job up Albany way. Thats what I thought the weather looked like, sheets of rain coming in on a strong gusty easterly.
Very wet! Welcome rain though.

Rain has eased right off and sky lightened a bit here now after about 40mm since 4am..
Wind is really starting to pick up with a more rapidly falling barometer at 1000 hPa now,
many reports of power lines down and roof damage, trees, tanks blown over etc up the northeastern bays especially..

Baro @ 1006mb now falling VERY rapidly! Heavy rain increasing throughout the day and now the easterly is rising nicely :D

RR shows widespread heavy rain on the way for the great basin :)

rain has stopped a nice 30mm ty very humid changed round to a NE now and gusty to gust 74kph baro bottemed out at 993 now 995 and steady

Over 200mm now in just 12 hours in Kauaeranga Valley east of Thames :twisted:

Been there camping once there for school.. bad memories sleeping in the big tents with saturated pillows and sleeping bags. yuck. when it rains there it pelts like crazy.

same here now, 39kts (74kmh) gusts, more NE now
how are you meausring those speed squid?
still good rain squalls here
baro 998 here, so that a good gradient between here and dargaville then 8)

61 kts as bean rock (entrance to waitemata harbour) now :shock:
