Issued at 2:35 pm WST on Monday, 27 February 2006

TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING CENTRE PERTH

A CYCLONE WARNING is now current for a developing tropical low for coastal areas
between Whim Creek and Minilya Roadhouse, extending inland to include
Pannawonica and Nanutarra.

A CYCLONE WATCH is current for coastal areas between Minilya Roadhouse and
Billabong Roadhouse, and inland parts of the western Pilbara and Gascoyne.

At 2pm WST a developing tropical low was estimated to be
430 kilometres north northwest of Karratha and
510 kilometres north of Exmouth and
moving south at 24 kilometres per hour.

The low may develop into a tropical cyclone later today, but is not expected to
cause gales in coastal areas during Monday. However gales could develop
overnight as the system moves further south. Widespread squally thunderstorms
are expected in the west Pilbara today ahead of the system.

Details of the tropical low at 2pm WST.

Location of centre : within 120 kilometres of
Latitude 17.4 South Longitude 114.8 East.
Recent movement : south at 24 kilometres per hour.
Central Pressure : 992 hPa.
Maximum wind gusts : 80 kilometres per hour.
Severity category : Below tropical cyclone intensity.

FESA-State Emergency Service advises that there are no community alerts at
present. Communities between Whim Creek and Billabong Roadhouse should listen
for the next advice.

I notice Geoff Mackley is interested.

One of the biggest hail storms I have seen in Auckland came from a system that started out as a Tropical Cyclone near Darwin.
Systems over western Australia eventually get ingested into the westerlies and advected in our direction.

Wow Tropical cyclone Carina has been developing very well its now a category 4 and still strenthining and I see Tropical storm Emma is born just off western aussie te one Goeff is following.

Issued at 9:50 am WST on Tuesday, 28 February 2006
BY THE BUREAU OF METEOROLOGY
TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING CENTRE PERTH

A CYCLONE WARNING for a CATEGORY 1 TROPICAL CYCLONE is now current for coastal
areas between Pardoo and Coral Bay, extending to the central inland Pilbara and
adjacent Gascoyne, including Pannawonica, Tom Price and Paraburdoo.

At 8am WST Tropical Cyclone Emma was estimated to be
130 kilometres west of Karratha and
125 kilometres north northeast of Onslow and
moving south at 23 kilometres per hour.

Gales with gusts to 105 kilometres per hour are expected in coastal areas
between Pardoo and Exmouth this morning extending to the inland Pilbara during
the day.

The cyclone is expected to cross the coast between Dampier and Onslow late
morning or early afternoon.

Widespread squally thunderstorms are expected in the coastal Pilbara ahead of
the centre, with heavy rain and flooding expected as the system moves inland.
The heavy rain and squally conditions should rapidly ease following the passage
of the cyclone centre.

Tides between Port Hedland and Onslow are likely to rise above the normal high
tide mark with very rough seas and flooding of low-lying coastal areas.

Latitude 20.6 South Longitude 115.6 East.
Recent movement : south at 23 kilometres per hour.
Central Pressure : 986 hPa.
Maximum wind gusts : 105 kilometres per hour.
Severity category : 1.

FESA-State Emergency Service advises of the following community alerts:
YELLOW ALERT: People in or near the community of Onslow should commence action
in preparation for the cyclone's arrival.
BLUE ALERT: People in or near the communities of Pannawonica and Exmouth should
be taking precautions.
ALL CLEAR WITH CAUTION: People in or near the communities of Karratha, Dampier,
Point Samson, Roebourne, Wickham and Mardie are advised to proceed with caution.
Communities between Port Hedland and Coral Bay and across the inland Pilbara
should listen for the next advice.

That cyclone might help perth's weather asa it bring some rain and cooler temps. another cyclone may form east coast of aussie too which where i am.

thats the end of emma thou the remaining low is producing very heavy rains alone its path

TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING CENTRE PERTH

The CYCLONE WARNING for coastal areas between Port Hedland to Onslow has now
been CANCELLED. Ex-Tropical Cyclone Emma has weakened below tropical cyclone
intensity after crossing the coast near Mardie late this morning, and gales are
no longer expected.

At 2pm WST Ex-Tropical Cyclone Emma was estimated to be
150 kilometres south southwest of Karratha and
130 kilometres east southeast of Onslow and
moving south southeast at 28 kilometres per hour.

Widespread squally thunderstorms with heavy rain and flooding are expected to
the south of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Emma as the system moves further south. The
heavy rain and squally conditions should rapidly ease following the passage of
the system centre.

Details of Ex-Tropical Cyclone Emma at 2pm WST.
Location of centre : within 35 kilometres of
Latitude 22.0 South Longitude 116.3 East.
Recent movement : south southeast at 28 kilometres per hour.
Central Pressure : 992 hPa.
Maximum wind gusts : 90 kilometres per hour.
Severity category : Tropical Low.

FESA-State Emergency Service advises of the following community alerts:
ALL CLEAR WITH CAUTION: People in Pilbara communities are advised that all
alerts have been lifted and to proceed with caution.

No further Tropical Cyclone Advices will be issued for this system. Details of
weather from the remnants of the system will be carried in routine forecasts.
