Supposed to be a few showers in the morning but I don't think it will amount to much going by the 9pm satellite picture. Has been dry in the far south for the last few days - I think 1mm for the last week.

Yes, Jase and according to ECMWF it's heading for Perth
It'll probably be downgraded to a "Wati" type of TC by then.
Yes good to see a low system type of weather system redeveloping this WE ...but don't forget Saturday is .... April Fool's Day :D
Most weather will occur in the North Island unfortunately :(

does look good on the rain radar....finally something after whats rally been a fizzer of a remanent TC for rain and wind
PS, i read an interesting newspaper aticle on TC's that have hit Queensland since 1840 or so, when i was in Brisbane...
176 in total or so
in the 1920's/30's, inisfail was wiped out more than once....its been rebuilt again every time, and will be rebuilt again....TC's of the strength of Larry have hit Queenland before....its just been 30 years since that strength....
some have caused lots of flooding around Brisbane

edit...arrgghh, that rain to our north is moving east and not south onto us....blue skies developing out to our west....
no really enough rain to be a drought breaker in the end.....
will have to wait until sunday/mondays system now

edit, oh goodie, a little sting in its tail, rain here at the moment, in a SE flow

Be thankful you don't live in one of the world's really boring climates...such as the one that gets quoted as

"In Lima, Senor, the rain is not wet"

;)

Feels like mid-winter here Rwood.. southerly/SE continues to gust strongly tonight with drizzly rain.

Did any severe thunderstorms eventuate in the upper North today?

Looks like a deepening low is on the horizon.. hopefully some good NW'ly rain on the way :)

i did see some reasonably looking (but ragged edged) CBish looking clouds down the north waikato this afternoon that would have given someone a good dollop of rain....
