TROPICAL CYCLONE ADVICE NUMBER 22
Issued at 5:55 pm WST on Monday, 27 March 2006
BY THE BUREAU OF METEOROLOGY
TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING CENTRE PERTH

A CYCLONE WARNING is current for a CATEGORY 2 CYCLONE for coastal and island
areas between Mitchell Plateau and Bidyadanga. A CYCLONE WATCH extends south to
Whim Creek.

At 5pm WST TROPICAL CYCLONE GLENDA was estimated to be
125 kilometres north northeast of Cape Leveque and
225 kilometres north northwest of Derby
and was moving west southwest at 13 kilometres per hour.

Gales with gusts to 130 kilometres per hour may develop in coastal parts between
Mitchell Plateau and Cape Leveque tonight, extending south to Bidyadanga during
Tuesday.

Tides will be higher than expected between Mitchell Plateau and Cape Leveque.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected through the Kimberley with heavy falls
possible in western coastal parts. Refer to current flood warnings for more
information.

Location of centre : within 40 kilometres of
Latitude 15.3 South Longitude 123.2 East.
Recent movement : West southwest at 13 kilometres per hour.
Central Pressure : 980 hPa.
Maximum wind gusts : 130 kilometres per hour.

BLUE ALERT: People in or near the communities of Mitchell Plateau, Kuri Bay, One

areas between Kuri Bay and Bidyadanga. A CYCLONE WATCH extends south to Whim
Creek.
The CYCLONE WARNING between Mitchell Plateau and Kuri Bay has been cancelled.

At 8pm WST SEVERE TROPICAL CYCLONE GLENDA was estimated to be
110 kilometres north of Cape Leveque and
220 kilometres north northwest of Derby
and was moving west southwest at 10 kilometres per hour.

Gales with gusts to 130 kilometres per hour may develop in coastal parts between
Kuri Bay and Cape Leveque overnight, possibly extending south to Bidyadanga
during Tuesday.

Tides will be higher than expected between Kuri Bay and Cape Leveque.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected through the Kimberley with heavy falls
possible in western coastal parts. Refer to current flood warnings for more

BY THE BUREAU OF METEOROLOGY
TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING CENTRE PERTH

A CYCLONE WARNING is current for a CATEGORY 4 CYCLONE for coastal and island
areas between Cape Leveque and Bidyadanga. A CYCLONE WATCH extends along the
Northwest coast to Exmouth.

At 11am WST SEVERE TROPICAL CYCLONE GLENDA was estimated to be
180 kilometres west northwest of Cape Leveque and
260 kilometres north northwest of Broome
and was moving west southwest at 11 kilometres per hour.

Gales with gusts to 120 kilometres per hour are possible in coastal parts
between Cape Leveque and Beagle Bay for the next few hours.
Should the cyclone take a more southwesterly track then gales with gusts to 120
kilometres per hour may extend south to Bidyadanga during the day.

The cyclone is expected to move roughly parallel to the coast for the next 24 to
36 hours and continue to intensify. Communities in the central and western
Pilbara should be aware that SEVERE TROPICAL CYCLONE GLENDA is likely to be near
the coast in 48 to 72 hours time.

Latitude 15.8 South Longitude 121.4 East.
Recent movement : West southwest at 11 kilometres per hour.

ECMWF has it going down the coast line to perth and then into and around to the south of australia eventualy :shock:

Latest BOM has it to 905hp by 6am utc now that is very deep :shock: also 145kts in the core 8) .

BY THE BUREAU OF METEOROLOGY
TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING CENTRE PERTH

A CYCLONE WARNING is now current for a CATEGORY 5 CYCLONE for coastal areas
between Wallal and Mardie.

A CYCLONE WATCH extends from Mardie to Exmouth.

At 8pm WST SEVERE TROPICAL CYCLONE GLENDA was estimated to be
240 kilometres northwest of Broome and
450 kilometres north northeast of Port Hedland
and was moving southwest at 18 kilometres per hour.

Communities along the Pilbara should be aware that SEVERE TROPICAL CYCLONE
GLENDA is expected to approach coast later on Wednesday and during Thursday.
Gales with gusts to 125 kilometres per hour may develop along the Pilbara coast
between Wallal and Mardie as early as Wednesday night but more likely early on
Thursday morning. There is the risk of very destructive winds during Thursday as
the cyclone moves closer to the coast.

Details of SEVERE TROPICAL CYCLONE GLENDA at 8pm WST Tuesday.
Location of centre : within 30 kilometres of
Latitude 16.7 South Longitude 120.4 East.
Recent movement : Southwest at 18 kilometres per hour.

TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING CENTRE PERTH

A CYCLONE WARNING is now current for a CATEGORY 4 CYCLONE for coastal areas between De Grey and Exmouth and extending to adjacent inland parts. A CYCLONE WATCH extends from Exmouth to Wooramel Roadhouse and includes the inland western Pilbara and western Gascoyne.

At 2pm WST SEVERE TROPICAL CYCLONE GLENDA was estimated to be
300 kilometres north northwest of Port Hedland and
360 kilometres north northeast of Karratha
and was moving west southwest at 14 kilometres per hour.

Communities along the Pilbara coast should be aware that SEVERE TROPICAL CYCLONE GLENDA is expected to approach the coast later this afternoon and Thursday. Gales with gusts to 100 kilometres per hour are expected to develop on the Pilbara coast this evening with gusts increasing to 125 kilometres per hour overnight.

Residents of the central and west Pilbara coast are warned of the risk of very
destructive winds with gusts exceeding 250 kilometres per hour during Thursday
close to the centre as this very dangerous cyclone nears the coast.

Details of SEVERE TROPICAL CYCLONE GLENDA at 2pm WST Wednesday.
Location of centre : within 30 kilometres of
Latitude 17.7 South Longitude 118.0 East.
Recent movement : West southwest at 14 kilometres per hour.
Central Pressure : 920 hPa.
Maximum wind gusts : 265 kilometres per hour.
Severity Category : 4

FESA-State Emergency Service advises of the following alerts:
YELLOW ALERT: People in or near the communities of Point Samson, Wickham, Roebourne, Karratha and Dampier should commence action in preparation for the possibility of destructive winds.
BLUE ALERT: People in or near communities between De Grey and Mardie including Port Hedland, South Hedland, Whim Creek, Pannawonica and Onslow should start taking precautions.

It's media hype, plus we know everything about them now. Nobody knew how powerful the storms were before satellites etc. unless they suffered a direct hit.

had 10 mm of rain from ex Tc glenda over night with some gusty winds well i guess that is better than nothing roll on the next Tc witch by the looks of things wont be to far away
