About next storm season: 2006/7

Unread post by Matt Townsend »

I wonder to see whats going to happen in our next storm season for NZL and Australia. El nino expected to come and bring great windshear and that would bring more gusty storms and tornadoes. I wonder our supercell chances here would gradually increasing 5% per year and now it seems 16% to me.

Any comments?

Because, there I have been in 13 storms in 2004/5 season and 5 of them were severe. 2005/6 season, I been in 15 severe ones which include 3 supercells and one tornadic supercell, and total I been in 44 storms! Seems 2006/7 season would be over 50 storms in total!

In terms of current model predictions you are closer - things are expected to be neutral or near-neutral for a couple of seasons, but tending towards El Nino later (but it's too soon to put much confidence in that).
