Weak trough bearing in over the upper North Island tomorrow morning.. too bad we're losing those high dewpoints though
But yeah i'd say target areas are Northern Taranaki/King Country/Waikato and a possible one over West Auckland. Water temps off the coast here are 17c, land temps tomorrow ~15c.. so they shouldn't gather very well. Surface & upper westerlies, until around 2pm with winds turning to the WSW.

As a trough moves over northern New Zealand in the afternoon or evening bands of heavy showers are likely. The risk of any thunderstorms over the land from Northland to Bay of Plenty and the western ranges of Hawkes Bay is bordering on moderate since although it is expected to cool aloft by 3 or 4 degrees compared with Sunday, conditions will also be cooler and less moist at low levels. No other thunderstorms forecast but the expected southerly change from Wellington to Hawkes Bay is likely to bring some rain.

Having said that.. bring on those beautiful dry sunny southeasterlies!
MetService report there 'have been isolated thunderstorms from Waikato to Bay of Plenty'.. so good to see some land updrafts in action then!
We're not dead yet!
You get just enough of a hint of it to get excited and then everything fizzles into a big void of nothingness.
I was down in Taranaki when all the rain came to AKL - sigh - so I missed the fun. Fine, warm sunny days in New Plymouth for almost all the 3 weeks I was there - boring huh.
I returned to AKL to look forward to catching up with some rain and hail and thunda - only to get mild warm nights and only a bit of rain.
I have to admit, its been great in the early hours of the morning - with some decent downpours - only- they just don't last long enough.
I think early next week will be the next action for us dorklanders
Sundee looks to be a doozey too
Should get quite windy with good rainfall on ze west coast of the NI
in the meantime enjoy the diurnal temp ranges that autumn/winter is famous for. those crisp mornings (esp in the waikato foggy!) that turn into clement daytimes, and then the smell of log fires fills the evening air! Coupled with a nice glass of Shiraz....you beauty!

Met are forecasting fine and frosty, with fog, until at least Thursday for us down here. Friday might bring some cloud, but otherwise nice. If we're lucky we may get some Hoar frosts out of that frosty-foggy combo.
