It looks as though it was a one hit wonder. It didn't even show up on the tracker.

Thanks for the welcome Flutterbye.
We awoke to 1.5deg and sleet plus a frozen heat pump.
Definately more snow to lower levels on the hills and suburbs today.

Just woke and seems that the air temp (4c) in chch aided by a S-SW breeze avoided a hard frost. Sky seems clear but wind is still very cold.

Shall wait and see what the rest of the morning brings..

It would look like there isnt much it will bring, showers and snow look like there going to remain just out to sea.

AWESOME Pics, Joe!

Hi to Janos too.

I just drove to Twizel from Omarama via Antartica...I haven't seen it like this down here for a long time! Absolutely gorgeous, but the roads are dodgy as hell even in a Land Cruiser.

Very cold this morning just 3C outside sun was out gone behind clouds which have moved in from the south.
There's a real gritty sound on the roads out there havn't heard any skids so thats good we also have several ice rinks around the property including the driveway so can't get up that at moment considering it's a hill.
Heard it's snwoing in Mosgiel and Dunedin airport this morning too.
Few snapo's from this morning.
Cheers
Jason.

Hi,

Well here in Dunedin its still really cold this morning. Theres snow on the hills and state highway 1 north is closed. Hopefully my weatherstation will finally be on the internet tonight.

The mother in law rang up from Chch last night wanting to know how much snow we had as she had heard somewhere that we had heaps. Nope no snow at all just really cold. I don't know where she was getting her info from. She does this each time snow is mentioned during winter and it drives us nuts

Latest satellite image from NOAA17 shows the snow cover in the SI fairly well. The higher res version from Landcare Research should be even better.

You can also see that most of the cloud/showers are staying offshore as 03Storm said.

Nice snowman, Jason :)
Bit more moralistic than the phallic snowman that someone made on the side of the road near Templeton this morning.
I was going to photo it and put it on the forum but then SG might delete it.

Actually around 11am there were reports of snow falling in Mosgiel and I witnessed sleet in Dunedin City also, though very light.

I had about 2cm on the deck etc when I woke this morning, but of course I'm on the 200m mark. Getting excited about the possible events this weekend :-$
There is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes.
