flutterbye looks like you only got a few more hours at the most to get any snow as that cold pool is on its way north now

It has to happen in the evening or overnight for us - once it's daylight it just won't happen  ;)

Mostly light rain from about 9.30am out near Akaroa, but increasing at times later. Snow now settling above about 450m. (over existing patches from the earlier cold blast)

Finally we get some moisture falling from the sky, but its too warm to snow. Went up to the highest suburbs before. Sleet, then snow falling right at the top.

Particularly easterly here now too

Very cold air here, but not much action. Yesterday cold but almost dead calm, a few slowmoving buildups and picturesque colours on harbour and hills. Quite a bit of sun but no feeling of warmth. Brightish overcast now but little excitement, locally feels like unusually cold SSW.

Few spits returning with dark lower clouds moving in black to the north also Id say wont be long and it will be snowing in Hanmer.
Gone from light Easterly to breezy Southerly and picking up.
Radar shaping up too.
