Hasn't got past 8.2c here today... That's very cold.. usually a cold max temp here like that would have to be in mid-July blanketed under all day fog!

STORMY WEATHER IN PARTS OF THE NORTH ISLAND TODAY
Heavy rain is expected to develop during today (Monday) in parts of Gisborne and
Hawkes Bay. In Hawkes Bay, some heavy snowfalls are expected above 700 metres.
Severe gales are expected to affect Gisborne, Hawkes Bay, Taupo, and
Bay of Plenty.
A low is deepening near East Cape. Its associated frontal band is expected to
become more active as it moves northwards into Hawkes Bay.
People in these areas should brace for some stormy weather, and keep up to date
with the latest forecasts.
The snow warnings for Canterbury and the Kaikoura Coast are now lifted.

Can you see Mt Pirongia?Got the little ice/snow flake symbol up on my vantage pro console now.. never seen that before!

Passing (mostly light) showers continuing in Chch with southerly freshening at times, and temperature only about 5C. Cloud has been covering the higher Port Hills.

There was a wintry Friday morning back in 1994(?) where it never got above 0° in downtown Auckland until well after lunchtime. A very foggy day. I don't know if you or anybody else remembers that?
