Really? We were almost 10° colder than that (-13.4°). Why the difference do you think? You're 'just down the road' from Ophir, so I'm surprised it wasn't colder. What's the lowest temp you've ever recorded in Alex?Andy wrote:It was -3.7° overnight - with sunny skies and westerly winds developing during the morning. MetService is predicting a return to cold showery weather in the east of the North Island for Monday, even issuing a low risk warning of heavy snow on the Tararuas and Ruahines. (above about 800m)
NIWA's climate summary for june will be interesting - I guess much colder than normal for NZ. (doesn't look like warming up too much for the last week of the month) RWood will probably know more about this, but I wouldn't be surprised if this month is the coldest June since 1972. A big change from the series (2002-4) of very warm Junes of recent years.

Good to hear that Auckland can still experience a good frost. The Mission Bay weather station is reading 7.2°, and that's on the bluff just above the bay itself, so it must be darn chilly up north tonight!Peopled_Diagram wrote:The condensation ontop of the spa pool lid has completely iced up and its not long after 11pm. The paving outside is lethal to walk on.
Going to wear sox to bed tonight.
