shower activity to the south that was moving north not looking so impressive now
once the cloud sheet associated with the low to the west of the SI moves slowly NE and off canty, then it looks like at this stage not alot left to give much snow....
so unless the current cloud sheet can get more active in the next 6 hours or so, not alot of snow will fall.....by the looks of things at the moment
which is good news for those still struggling with the last lot...
but I am no expert

Shelter opened as snow hits again
21/06/2006 16:24:02
Civil Defence authorities in South Canterbury have opened a shelter for residents who are still without power and communication.
The shelter opened today in Maungati where some residents have been without electricity and phones since last week's storm ten days ago.
Civil Defence spokesman, Donette Fargher, says the facility will provide residents with the basics they need including hot water and food.
She says they have been phoning residents who are thrilled the service is there and say they will be using it.
Donette Fargher says they are also welcome to sleep at the shelter which will operate for the next few days.
Meanwhile Christchurch could be under a mantle of snow within hours.
Forecasters report bad weather is coming in faster than expected.
It is already snowing heavily in Methven and other parts of inland Canterbury, and forecaster Richard Green says the snow is not far from the city.
Civil Defence Minister Rick Barker is in Christchurch, saying he wants to be on the ground should conditions worsen in the region.
Mr Barker says he is there to make sure help is in place especially after the heavy pounding the area has taken over the past week.
He says some areas remain brittle, especially where people are still without power or phones after the last storm ten days ago.

Sat pics don't lie, and we've been following those all day. The Action Weather band was clearly visible as it made its way northwards, with clear air behind it. We still have full overcast here at the moment but that clear sky can't be far away (Andy, how's it in Alex?) and the weather stations are all showing baro climb, and forecasting fine weather.Manukau heads observer wrote:shower activity to the south that was moving north not looking so impressive now
