Woohoo! 5 mins is better than nothing.
Except that it's below freezing now and getting slippery out there :(

Looks like there is a little electrical activity in the front tht is on the way up from Wellington - the front shows up really well on the Aussie site with a delicate arc of cloud:

Different conditions all over town tonight. Hail in the CBD at 6pm. Hail up my way at about 7.20pm. Drove home and couldn't get up the hill in the car. Walked the 3km up from the bottom as the 4WD's drove past us  .

Snow shower about before 9 but clear again. The company car stays in the valley tonight ](*,)

Wintry showers coming through with grapel and hail havnt had any sleet yet though. :?
I am going for the hours between 6-11am tomorrow morning there should be some significant snow to sea level of course with it being the coldest between 5-6am with new day dawning. 8)
One can only hope we will wake up to see snow on the ground :D .
Cheers
Jason.

Anyone else sick of the term 'wintry showers'? Just seems like such a lazy oxymoron. :?

Every shower we get here from June 21 to September 23 is wintry, indeed! ;)

Hey whats grapel? Is that somewhere between snow and hail? The hail here comes in 30 second busts, it goes flat out on the roof for 30 seconds then I look outside and enough has fallen to cover the cars and street.

Good exercise Phil, but you should have waited 1/2 an hour! We got up no problem in a little Festiva (Sube was warmly tucked up in it's garage) and we're not that far down the road from you. ;)

Evening Gentlemen,

The WN rain radar image posted shows the rain event which started around 1600 this afternoon and continues now at 2220. So far my station has recorded 18.6mm of rain, however, its a reasonablly warm evening at 6.1 Degrees C and a steady barometric pressure of 1011.4hPa. We are sheltered from the southerlies, so can't say if the temperature has plummeted with the forecast S change closer to the CBD...
