rain radar does show that the worst has now moved through (now moved into inland areas)...and only isolated showers in the main southerly flow
a few places would have got a fair fall where those heavier showers passed through...which missed CHCH

Just had a couple of brief but intense showers of small hail here as mentioned on the TS forecast.

The icy showers are becoming evident now so the colder mass is perhaps moving in.
No body give up we still have sevaral hours of this stuff to come yet the flakes will come with patience.
Brr its cold out though hail shower went through before quiet on the roof again though.
Cheers
Jason.

Yeah, plenty more icy shower activity to come through. But the heavier precip seems to have moved north. Looks like Kaikoura/Malbourough and then the North Island is in the firing line for the heavy snow and rain. (Snow to very low levels around Kaikoura forecast)

Will you please explain to TVNZ that I seldom get home from work before 7 PM and so could they put the News on later so I don't keep missing it? Ta.

harddrive video recorder
makes recording programs very easy....even record as you watch, allowing you to fast forward through adds, and finish watching the program at normal time , but you started watching it 20 minutes later than normal (because you can fast (very fast) zip past the adds
you can even record other channels etc at the same time...
(my brother has one)

Thought it was going to freeze tonight - went outside at 7pm, there was no breeze and felt quite mild - then shortly after it snowed for approx 5 minutes
