Looking at the first 7 days of October, despite it feeling cold and a few frosts about,
it's a little warmer then this time last year with a mean of 9.0 against 8.4 for 2002.
Been more windy but to date this October and last, the prevailing wind direction is south.

as recorded at my weather station in Havelock North.
Total rainfall: 146.3mm (on 16 days)
Maximum 24hr total: 44.6mm (on the 5th)
Total from 1 January: 720.1mm (on 110 days)
Maximum temperature: 24.9ºC (on the 26th)
Minimum temperature: 2.6ºC (on the 3rd)
as recorded at my weather station in Havelock North.

September 2002 saw alot of warm northwesterlies, which certainly pushed up Chch's mean temperature for the month, despite a number of (brief) cold southerly outbreaks, some of which brought snow to low levels in parts of Canterbury.A little late but here's my summary for September
