looks to be a real pearler on the cards for this time next week. May pay to keep an eye out if your in the BOP/Hawkes Bay region yet again.

Models suggest quite a tight centred low to be present on thursday morning. If it pans out then there could be gale force winds from the SE too which may have the potential to cause damage.

Metvuw has it at about 980Hpa on thurs morning.

crikey :P

This would be the low which is execpted to fire lots of welcome rain to SE and some central parts of Australia.
Although It's a wee way out and models can change looks like the low might colide with a cold front from the south 8) .
But I say no more and hope the models go as they are showing.
Considering this low system we have now has decided to go to sleep.
Cheers
Jason.

looks like this is another NI event, with the low already formed and starting to deepen, heavy rain warning is out from Gisbone to WAIRARAPA.

The Low will be tracking further North this time so Northland ,Coromandel and BOP most likely in the firing line for any heavy rain from Wendsday.

Stunning day here in the South Easterly. :D

I hope it won't affect the Wellington region....we have a AB's Test this Saturday night vs the Bok's at the Caketin... be great to put the Sth Africans under the hammer on a dry and hopefully fast track!!!

Anyone keen to make a long range prediction for this Saturday nights weather?

Persistent rain in Lower Hutt now. Looks like the worst of this system is going slightly further North than originally thought now.

Cheers

James

PS to Macca. A wisp of drizzle in a decaying Southerly for Saturday evening. Its not looking too bad at the moment.

...and heres why its persistent boring rain...

just a big sheet of nimbostratus covering most of the NI.

I doubt there'd be any funder and lightning in that one...tho metservice have a moderate warning out.

tropo is at about 10,000m but i dont know if thats enuff height for T/S??

Yes, there were some storms (weak) West/NW of Northland ( out to Sea) this morn.

Dull with mod rain here :( , 10mm, currently 13C.

10,000m would be a high topped thunderstorm for this time of year. Generaly NZ winter thunderstorm tops are around the 7 to 9000m mark. :)

Should have unstable lapse rates over northern NZ tommorrow but a lack of forcing keeps the thunder risk down.
