Just had another heavy hail shower in central Chch. Apparently it has also been snowing at times in Ashburton today.

Wind has just picked up in Chch, adding to the windchill. Another sleetly shower is lashing the central city.
Most snow had disapeared from the Port Hills this afternoon, but there could easily be fresh snow up there very soon.

Still showers coming through some quite sleety 8) .
Could possibly see some snow showers this evening and still plenty of icy shower cloud in the southern ocean moving up going by satelites.
Here is hail from today.
Cheers
Jason.

Thanks for posting the hail ob and pics Jason. Our radar hail routine indicated 4 to 6mm hail at times, so that is in the ball park of what you observed.

The southerly event is over now - nice sunny day in Chch today. It may have been in a fizzer in terms of heavy snow (except Queenstown), but it certainly appears to have been a very cold one, with reports of snow showers yesterday in some Wellington hill suburbs.
